Woburn Team Tennis
2023 Woburn Fall League

What is Impact Team Tennis?
Impact Team Tennis is co-ed teams competing in a format that consists of 6 no-ad sets. One set each of men's and women's doubles followed by men's and women's singles, ending with 2 sets of mixed doubles. Click here to see ITT Woburn rules.

What is a Impact Team Tennis team?
A team must have at least two men and two women, up to a 12-player maximum. This allows you the flexibility to adjust your roster size according to the number of weeks that your teammates wish to commit to. We also provide a list of over 60 approved substitutes for team back-ups. No age restrictions as long as you have at least 2 adult men and 2 adult women. Players under 18 can not play in the regionals.

Who can play?
We have a broad range of players in the league, ranging from approximately a 3.0 - 4.0 (USTA ratings not required), with teams arranged into four levels of play.

When do leagues start?
This season starts September 16, 2023

Sign-Up Deadline: September 30,2023

What Divisions (levels of play) are offered?
There are four divisions: Intermediate, Mid-Intermediate, High Intermediate and Advanced Intermediate. NTRP ratings are helpful, but not required. To qualify for the Advanced flight, we suggest that you have the skills of a 3.5-4.0 NTRP player. 4.0 is the maximum level of play allowed in the league.

Determining Team Rating
The average NTRP rating of the top two men and top two women players on your team determines the team rating.

       Example:
  Joe- 4.5 Mary- 3.5
  Tom- 4.5 Jill-3.5
  Bill- 4.0 Gail- 3.5
  Joe- 4.5 Mary- 3.5
  Jim- 3.5 Joan- 3.0

The best two men and two women are: 4.5 + 4.5 + 3.5 + 3.5 = 16. 16 divided by 4 equals 4.0.

This team could register for the 4.0 division or a higher division. A team consists of a minimum of two men and two women. Although the limit to the number of team members is ten, the suggested number of players is three men and three women. Click here to determine your NTRP level.

Where do we play?
All Matches are played at the Woburn Racquet Club, Saturdays either 4:30-6:15pm or 6:15-8:00pm. Each team has a fairly even combination of the early and late matches.

Can I register as an individual/substitute/team?
If you don't have a team but wish to play, we can try to find an existing team for you in any given season. We will make the effort but can't guarantee that you will be placed. We can place you on our substitute list, if we receive your request by the seventh week of the season.

Note to substitute players:
Contact Cheryl Witty at ckwitty@verizon.net if you would like to be on the sub list. Please provide name, approximate level of play and your cell number.
