What is Impact Team Tennis? |
The 2023 Calabasas Impact Team Tennis League starts Friday evening, April 21, with matches continuing Saturday, April 22 and Sunday, April 23. If necessary, we have set aside Friday, April 28 for an extra date in case our league gets lots of teams. Essentially, we'll play the whole league in one weekend, except that extra Friday evening, if needed. Impact Team Tennis is co-ed teams competing in a format that consists of six no-ad sets. One set each of men's and women's doubles followed by men's and women's singles, ending with two sets of mixed doubles. Let serves are in play and mid-set substitutions are allowed. The team that wins the most cumulative games wins! |
What is a Impact Team Tennis team? |
A team must have two men and two women, as a minimum (10 players maximum). This allows for periods of rest and missing matches. Most teams find that 4 or 5 Men and 4 or 5 Women is a good number to roster for your team for this league. |
Who can play? |
Adults (19 & over) may sign up as a team or as an individual. Seniors may form their own team where players must be at least 50 years old, or 60 years old at the time of league play. We need at least three teams at any level or age group to have qualifying League play. USTA ratings apply. Self rated players are subject to the judgement of the league coordinator, current USTA rating rules shall apply. |
When do leagues start? |
April 21, 22, 23 and 28 (if needed). The Calabasas Impact Team Tennis Festival is a one weekend league with singles & doubles played in the "short set" format of the first to 4 games, no-ad scoring. Mixed Doubles will be the first to 6 games, with a 9 point tiebreak at 5 all. If any of our divisions have more than 4 teams, we may need to start play in those divisions on Friday evening, April 21, check in at 6:30 PM. Matches will start on Saturday, April 21, not before 10:30 AM. Saturday matches could start as late as 5:00 PM. League play could conclude on Sunday, April 28, or perhaps, Friday, April 28. |
Sign-Up Deadline: Tues, July 5th |
We ask that team captains/teams submit their intention to field a team to the league director by Sunday, April 16, so there is no delay in publishing the schedule. Individual players can register at any time before league play begins, however, a team must be submitted by the deadline. |
What Divisions (levels of play) are offered? |
We will offer 4.5, 4.0, 3.5, 3.0. Senior divisions (50+) for 3.5, 4.0, & 4.5, Super Seniors (60+) 3.5 & 4.0, Senior teams (50+ and 60+) may be grouped in with the 19 and over teams if there are not at enough teams at either age group.

Determining Team Rating |
The average NTRP rating of the top two men and top two women players on your team determines the team rating. |
Example: |
Joe- 4.5 |
Mary- 3.5 |
Tom- 4.5 |
Jill-3.5 |
Bill- 4.0 |
Gail- 3.5 |
Joe- 4.5 |
Mary- 3.5 |
Jim- 3.5 |
Joan- 3.0 |
The best two men and two women are: 4.5 + 4.5 + 3.5 + 3.5 = 16. 16 divided by 4 equals 4.0. |
This team could register for the 4.0 division or a higher division. A team consists of a minimum of two men and two women.
Although the limit to the number of team members is ten, the suggested number of players is three men and three women.
